Houston Food Bank

 Various Rental Assistance Programs

The following organizations MAY be able to assist with some housing needs and household expenses.

The purpose of this page is to inform renters of various programs and agencies that may be able to provide financial assistance. Please note that this list is not exhaustive. There may be other programs and agencies available. Additionally, please understand that programs and agencies may have limited funds, may have varying qualification processes and requirements and may not be available for all renters seeking assistance. Additionally, there may be some programs or agencies that only provide services to limited geographic areas in our community.

Montgomery County Rental Assistance

Program is LIVE

Money will be sent to the landlord/property directly.

For Resident to Apply  

Please go to www.mctx.org to enter your information and it will be sent to the appropriate non-profit agency who will contact you via email or by phone for further instructions.

Landlord/Property Information

  •  Properties will have to fill out the landlord/tenant agreement form – CLICK HERE for copy
  • Note – you will be contacted to let you know a resident has applied for the program in order to fill out the attached form.
  • Each property will have to submit a W-9 before accepting payment. You will be contacted to submit a W-9. We have been told one W-9 per property will be sufficient.
  • Payments will be made by paper check by mail and will be resident by resident.
  • The payment information will list out the name of the resident and month(s) the payment should be applied to.
  • Properties should receive funds approximately 7 days after they are notified that they should receive funds.

Brazoria County Rental Assistance - (Excludes Properties inside the City Limits of Pearland)

For Resident to Apply

  • Please contact one of the agencies listed on THIS Flyer
  • From there you will be contacted to do a phone interview and will be sent a list of required documents.

Landlord/Property Information

  • Once the resident is approved, the (PROPERTY) will be sent the following:  
  • Both the resident and the landlord have to sign the rental agreement and send it back to the Welfare Department
  • Then Brazoria County Treasurer’s office mails a check to the address the property indicated on the form.

Fort Bend Rental Assistance

Phase 1 June – July - is Closed
Phase 2 August – September – Closed
Phase 3 October – November – will open 9/21/2020

  • NOTE: If you had previously applied in Phase 1 or 2, you DO NOT need to reapply. Your application will already be in the system and included in Phase 3.

The approved funding will be implemented in three phases:
• Phase 1: June-July $6,500,000
• Phase 2: August-September $6,500,000
• Phase 3: October-November $6,500,000

  • Properties must register through the landlord portal. (If you already registered in phase 1 you will NOT have to register again)
  • How you selected to receive payments is how payments will be sent to the property. (ACH or Mailed Check)

Pearland Rental Assistance

The City of Pearland is finalizing the details of their rental assistance program. The program will apply to City of Pearland residents only.

Missouri City Rental Assistance

Missouri City has passed money for a rental assistance program. They are working on details and implementation for this program currently.

Northwest Assistance Ministries - Rent and Mortgage Assistance Program

Note, payments will be made to either the resident or the landlord depending on what funding source the resident qualifies for.
