2019 Community Service Events and Projects

School Supply Drive, June 1 - July 30

As part of  HAA outreach efforts to provide education and member resources to our twelve county membership area, this year we will be collecting school supplies for children in the Pasadena ISD.  Please help us “fill the bus” Collect the school supplies listed below and drop them off to the HAA office, 4810 Westway Park Blvd, 77041. Consider ordering from Amazon and have them shipped straight to HAA.  DEADLINE FOR DONATIONS IS JULY 30TH. There are 55,000 students in Pasadena Independent School District and 43,500 are economically disadvantaged. Please help us help them. 

School Supplies Needed: Clear/Mesh Backpacks, #2 Pencils, Crayons, Markers, Erasers, Highlighters, Elmer's Glue, Glue Sticks, Spiral Notebooks, Folders/binders, Composition notebooks, Notebook paper, Facial Tissue and Hand Sanitizer

Rebuilding Houston Volunteer Day - September 13

We are working with Rebuilding Houston to help them provide free home repair to low income seniors, military veterans, homeowners with disabilities and working families impacted by natural disasters.  We will have a Rebuilding Houston representative lead our crew and they will provide all the tools and materials needed.  This is a full day 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 a.m.  If you can help, please  follow this link to get signed up.  Crew Member Sign-Up Link 

Houston Food Bank Food Drive Begins November 1 -December 11

The drive officially starts November 1 each year.  HAA began our annual food drive in 1983 and has continued to help the food bank by asking properties as well as supplier companies to collect food for donation.  In 2012 we also began collecting food for pets.  If you would like to make a financial donation to these two great organizations please visit their websites at   The Houston Food Bank and for the pets Rescue Bank  We need help sorting and packing food for deliver to the Food Bank.

Assembly Breakfast Bags for InterFaith Ministries - March 22 

Need 30 volunteers who can spare two hours to help. Interfaith Ministries’ Meals on Wheels for Greater Houston and Galveston County program provides home-delivered meals to disabled adults and home bound clients over 60. The program also delivers weekend meals and a week’s worth of breakfast to over 1,100 of their most  frail and isolated clients. This nutritional support helps people stay independent and in their own homes. 

Sports Challenge - May 10

HAA raised $25,000 for the American Red Cross in 2017.   This year we will be raising money for CrimeStoppers.  Crime Stoppers of Houston works diligently to empower, educate and engage the community in the important conversations about crime, public safety and the protection of society's most vulnerable citizens.  For more details about this event, please click on this link Sports Challenge   

Blood Drive-June 4

Thank you to all of our members and staff who have donated blood for Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center.  According to giveblood.org, one unit of donated blood can save up to three lives.
