The Resident Relations staff does not correspond via e-mail or meet face to face with renters to discuss their problems and offer solutions.  HAA can serve more people by spending time on the phone with renters, answering questions and attempting to resolve problems. We believe other agencies can better meet the needs of renters seeking a face-to-face meeting.

The HAA Resident Relations program assists rental renters by:

Speaking directly with renters by phone to answer lease-related questions. To contact the Resident Relations Department call (713) 595-0300 HAA speaks to residents Monday - Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Helping renters understand their rights and responsibilities as a renter.

Permitting renters to file a complaint with HAA against the property owner/management company, which is then forwarded to the company for response.

Resolving move-out monetary disputes through a Resident Relations Committee if a renter and property owner/management company cannot come to an agreement.

At least 10,000 to 15,000 renters are assisted in this way each year.

NOTE: if you have any written evidence to support your complaint (rent receipts, leases, applications, correspondence, repair bills, etc.) you must send a copy of those documents.
