A new campaign to help Texas auto owners protect their cars from
burglary and theft is offering free resources to property owners, and
the Texas Apartment Association is helping to support the campaign.
Why
According to the Texas Automobile Burglary and Theft
Prevention
Authority, nearly 100,000 motor vehicles were stolen last year, and 50
percent of those had driver's keys left in them. In addition, every two
minutes, a vehicle is broken into and its contents are stolen.
What We're
Doing
ABTPA provides bilingual
brochures and specialty items that property
managers and staff can provide to residents through its "Watch Your
Car" campaign. In addition, recipients of ABTPA grants are available
around the state to give on-property presentations to help educate both
staff and residents. The resources provided by ABTPA can help your
residents learn how to protect their vehicles and improve the security
of the property, especially as the holiday season begins. ABTPA
brochures
cover topics such as "50 Ways to Help End Auto Theft" and "The Top Five
Ways to Prevent Your Vehicle from Being Stolen."
