ROCKVILLE, Md., May 3, 2005 - Registry-SafeRent, the nation's leading and most innovative provider of screening and risk management services for the multifamily industry, and the Houston Apartment Association (HAA), a professional trade organization serving the Houston rental market, today announced a partnership to provide expanded resident screening to the multifamily industry.
As part of the partnership, Registry-SafeRent's resident screening products and industry-leading database of credit, criminal and landlord-tenant information will be used to expand HAA's Resident Credit Reporting (RCR) product line. The integration of these two product lines will provide the most cost-effective and innovative screening solutions available to multifamily communities in the Houston Metro Area.
HAA created the RCR product line in 1977 and since that time has been aggregating rental history, eviction history and criminal data for the HAA membership. RCR is the only specialized rental history database in the industry and has the leading market share in the metro areas it serves. In 2004, as part of its continued effort to offer significant product enhancements, HAA sought to add national information to its data set and to expand its screening offer to include a statistically-validated lease decision service. In order to deliver these features in the most effective manner, HAA decided to partner with a nationwide screening company. After an exhaustive search, HAA selected Registry-SafeRent for its market strength, product breadth and commitment to gathering and using specialized rental history data in its screening products.
"After considering several screening companies, Registry-SafeRent was the best solution for our members," said Jeff Hall, executive vice president of HAA. "Registry-SafeRent's quantity and quality of landlord-tenant records and criminal data was unsurpassed. In addition, with its portfolio of sophisticated screening products, Registry-SafeRent has earned the largest market share in the industry. Most importantly, with Registry-SafeRent's 40 offices nationwide we are confident that our members will receive superior customer service and training."
The combined RCR and Registry-SafeRent products will offer HAA members access to rental history and automated lease decisions from one Web delivery site. HAA members will also benefit from nationwide landlord-tenant data, a broader collection of criminal information and the industry-leading applicant scoring model, RegistrySCOREXTM. By combining these screening services into a single, easy-to-use tool, HAA and Registry-SafeRent allow HAA members to make even better leasing decisions, which lead to a better bottom line.
"We are pleased to combine our offer with RCR. The RCR rental history database is the most comprehensive source of landlord-tenant and eviction data in the Houston Metro Area," said Nevel DeHart, executive vice president of Registry-SafeRent. "By combining this with our data set and scoring model, we can offer HAA members the most comprehensive and cost-effective applicant screening tool that delivers unmatched quality and results."
The Houston Apartment Association serves individuals and businesses involved in the multifamily rental housing industry in the Houston region by providing education resources, legislative and regulatory advocacy, and innovative services to help improve the business environment for rental housing owners and operators. The largest and most progressive apartment association in the U.S., HAA represents the interests of more than 1,600 member companies. Members include apartment owners, developers, and management companies as well as product and service businesses that support the industry. HAA members own and operate 2,300 apartment communities with more than 444,000 units, or more than 90 percent of Houston area apartments. For more information, visit www.haaonline.org.
