CAM - Certified Apartment Manager


Program Objective: To enhance the skills of the apartment manager, which can result in better managed and more profitable rental properties, improved resident retention rates and increased employee productivity.

Course Schedule and Fees

  • Check-in and registration is from 8:30 a.m. to 9 a.m.
  • Course is from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • New CAM Candidates must begin the program with the March 5th class.
  • Pre-Registration is required.

Total Program Cost: $999

Tuition can be paid in full or broken down as follows: $319 for first course (includes text book, NAA enrollment and first module fee); $85 for each course taken thereafter. Candidates must begin the program with the first course on March 5th.

Exams and Workshops

Candidates will sit for a comprehensive exam given at the completion of all CAM courses; this date will be announced at the first class. A minmum passing score of 70% is required to attain the designation.

Students are also required to complete a Community Analysis project to receive the CAM designation. The analysis consists of examining an apartment community, reviewing each element that affects the community and defining the indicated steps that should be taken to refine/improve the operations of the community, both financially and operationally. Students are required to turn in the Community Analysis project prior to sitting for the comprehensive exam.

A mandatory Community Analysis Workshop will be held to provide guidance for the completion of this project; date TBA.

All of these courses may be taken for continuing education credits for CAM, CAMT, CAMT II, CAPS, CAS and NALP Designates.

Designation Requirements

To qualify for the CAM program, candidates must:

  • Possess at least one year of apartment management experience
  • Complete all 9 CAM courses
  • Complete a community analysis project, receiving a Satisfactory mark;
  • Receive a passing grade of at least 70 percent on the comprehensive exam

Students who complete the requirements will receive a national certificate and pin. Candidates are allowed two years from the date of application to meet all program requirements. If the requirements are not met in the time allotted, an extension fee of $50 must be paid to the National Apartment Association to extend candidacy for one year.
