Make a SPLASH with Water Safety

The Houston Apartment Association, YMCA and Texas Childrens Hospital have partnered to promote water safety. Along with public awareness efforts, a key part of our efforts is the YMCA of Greater Houston SPLASH Program.

The YMCA SPLASH program is designed to help children and families learn basic swimming skills and safe water safety practices to help prevent accidents and deaths in the community.

The program covers five aquatic environments: public and apartment pools, backyard pools, boats, beaches and water parks. Basic swim skills like breath control, front float, crawl stroke, back float and kicking on back will be taught. Also included in the lessons are rescue skills such as reaching and throwing assists and rescue breathing.

Ask your property manager if they are participating in the SPLASH Program. If so, take advantage of it.
