CAPS - Certified Apartment Property Supervisor



Program Objective
: To enhance the skills of the apartment property supervisor, resulting in better supervised and more profitable rental properties with improved owner relations and increased employee productivity.

Course Registration and Fees

Check-in and registration is from 8:30 a.m. to 9 a.m.

Course is from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Program Cost and Enrollment Options

Total Program Cost: $1,120
Tuition can be paid in full or broken down as follows:

$160 per module for seven sessions

Pay entire program cost of $1,120 up front and receive a 5 percent discount (discount can not be combined with online registration discount)

Individual modules may be taken as stand alone seminars at $160 per module.

Exams and Workshops

Candidates are required to sit for an online comprehensive exam given at the completion of all CAPS courses; students may arrange for the exam at their convenience with HAA staff.

Designation Requirements

To qualify for the CAPS program, candidates must:

  • Have worked as a multi-site supervisor for 24 months OR be a CAM designate in good standing with 24 months of management experience
  • Complete all 7 CAPS courses
  • Complete the CAPS Designation Application, which is evaluated on a points system with credit given for experience, professional development and industry volunteering. A professional recommendation is also required.
  • Receive a passing grade of at least 70 percent on the comprehensive exam

Students who complete the requirements will receive a national certificate and pin. Candidates are allowed two years from the date of application to meet all program requirements. If the requirements are not met in the time allotted, an extension fee of $50 must be paid to the National Apartment Association to extend candidacy for one year.
