APPLE: Maintenance - Session 1
Basic Plumbing
with Mark Cukro
In this class we will discuss and breakdown a plumbing system all the way down to the smallest component in a faucet. Each student will have a basic understanding of plumbing terminology, plumbing fundamentals, safety in the workplace, and the installation of plumbing fixtures, supply lines, and drain lines as well as soldering fittings correctly.

APPLE: Maintenance - Session 2
Air Conditioning Troubleshooting
With Don Willard
Learn the basics of how to keep your residents happy and your A/C budget under control. In this session, we will discuss how an air-conditioner works, efficient operations, inspecting and cleaning A/C systems, and solving chronic A/C problems. Attending this session can result in immediate reduction of costly A/C service calls and improved resident satisfaction.

APPLE: Maintenance - Session 3
Electrify Electrical
With Don Willard
Electricity is probably the most important thing to know and understand before attempting most any other repair in maintenance. Electricity is dangerous and electrical devices must be handled, installed and maintained properly to avoid injuries, loss of property, or even loss of life. The topics in this three-hour session are: Electrical Safety - Electrical codes Lock/out tag/out General electrical and Make-ready repairs Single and multiple GFCI circuits Three-way switching circuits Load Calculations Finding short and overloads *A CD ROM diskette hand-out will be given to all attendees.

APPLE: Maintenance - Session 4
Basic Appliance
Mark Cukro This course will provide a basic understanding of refrigerator, range, oven, dishwasher, and microwave repairs. We will also cover how to read wiring diagrams, test components, replace elements, test motors, and common service calls. Each student will disassemble appliances and learn how to quickly diagnose the most common problems found in the field.

Workshop Series Fees


$399 per property. Fee includes unlimited attendance by your entire property staff to any or all 20 workshops.

Registration fee for individual sessions by non-enrolled property personnel is $40 per person.

8:30 a.m. - Check-in begins
9 a.m. to 12 p.m. - Program

Course Location

Unless otherwise noted, all HAA Education classes and events will take place at the Dinerstein Reed Prokop Education Center, 4810 Westway Park Blvd., Houston, Texas 77041.
