The Resident Relations staff does not correspond via e-mail. Staff will only reply via telephone or traditional mail. HAA Resident Relations is a free service of the Houston Apartment Association. HAA staff does not meet face to face with residents to discuss their problems and offer solutions.

HAA can serve more people by spending time on the phone with residents, answering questions and attempting to resolve problems. We believe other agencies can better meet the needs of residents seeking a face-to-face meeting.

The HAA Resident Relations program assists rental residents by:

  • Speaking directly with residents by phone to answer lease-related questions. To contact the Resident Relations Department call (713) 595-0300, Option 4.
  • Helping residents understand their rights and responsibilities as a renter.
  • Permitting residents to file a complaint with HAA against the property owner/management company, which is then forwarded to the company for response.
  • Resolving move-out monetary disputes through a Resident Relations Committee if a resident and property owner/management company cannot come to an agreement.

At least 10,000 to 15,000 residents are assisted in this way each year.

NOTE: if you have any written evidence to support your claim (rent receipts, leases, applications, correspondence, repair bills, etc.) you must send a copy of those documents along with a hard copy of the HAA complaint form.
