Honoring a founding father of HAA...
Today's 50th Anniversary post takes a look back at Harry Reed who played a major role in the formation of the Houston Apartment Association during 1959-1969. He remained active in HAA’s legislative affairs from then on.
Reed served as Vice President of HAA in 1964 and 1966. Reed was among the first three members inducted to the hall of fame; we currently have 22. Harry Reed was recognized as one of our most outstanding members with the coveted Houston Apartment Foundation Hall of Fame Award in 1987, honoring a lifetime contribution to the apartment industry. Moreover, he was honored with HAA's Owner of the Year Award from in 1977.
On the state level, Harry was one of the founders of the Texas Apartment Association, and served on the board for many years. He was an advocate of the needs of the apartment industries, thus he was very involved in the city, county, state and national election s campaign.
His legacy is still present today, as HAA’S Education center is named after Bill Dinerstein, Lester Prokop and him.
