CAM - Certified Apartment Manager

Program Objective: To enhance the skills of the apartment manager, which can result in better managed and more profitable rental properties, improved resident retention rates and increased employee productivity.

Course Schedule and Fees

  • Check-in and registration is from 8:30 a.m. to 9 a.m.
  • Course is from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • New CAM Candidates must begin the program with the March 10th class.
  • Pre-Registration is required and book must be purchased at time of registration.

Total Program Cost: $999

Tuition can be paid in full or broken down as follows: $319 for first course (includes text book, NAA enrollment and first module fee); $85 for each course taken thereafter. Candidates must begin the program with the first course on March 10th.

Exams and Workshops

Candidates will sit for a comprehensive exam given at the completion of all CAM courses on Friday September 10th. Students are also required to complete a Community Analysis project to receive the CAM designation. The analysis consists of examining an apartment community, reviewing each element that affects the community and defining the indicated steps that should be taken to refine/improve the operations of the community, both financially and operationally. Students are required to turn in the Community Analysis project prior to sitting for the comprehensive exam.

A mandatory Community Analysis Workshop will be held to provide guidance for the completion of this project; this will be held on Friday, August 27th. Each student must attend a Workshop to be eligible to sit for the exam and submit their project to NAA for grading.

Designation Requirements

CAM certificate candidates must have:

  • worked in the apartment industry for at least 12 months (can be obtained during the candidacy period for CAM);
  • successfully completed the nine courses listed below (which total 55 ½ hours) as well as a Community Analysis project; 
  • complete a community analysis project, receiving a Satisfactory mark;
  • receive a passing grade of at least 70 percent on the comprehensive exam

 

 

Students who complete the requirements will receive a national certificate and pin. Candidates are allowed two years from the date of application to meet all program requirements. If the requirements are not met in the time allotted, an extension fee of $50 must be paid to the National Apartment Association to extend candidacy for one year.
