Political Action

The HAA Better Government Fund is the political action committee of the Houston Apartment Association, a non-profit trade association representing the Houston apartment industry.

HAA members can participate in the HAA Better Government Fund on several levels, with the following benefits:

All members, at any levels, receive the discounted, member price of $25 admission to BGF luncheons.  Nonmembers of BGF are charged $40.

  • Non-Voting Century Club membership is available for $100.  These members are passive, as they contribute to the HAABGF, but have not vote.
  • Voting Century Club membership is available for $125.  This means that your money goes toward representation by the Century Club Representative.  For every $500 contributed by the group as a collective, the Century Club Representative (traditionally the newest Product Service Council officer) has one vote.
  • The Trustee Level ($500) gives members the benefit of having 1 vote each (of their own).  It also gives them an invitation to the Annual Elected Officials' Reception and Justice of the Peace/Constable appreciation luncheon.  Both are held during November or December.
  • The Steering Committee Level ($1500) gives members the benefit of having 3 votes each (of their own).  They are invited to the annual elected officials' reception and JP/Constable luncheon.  The Steering Committee members meet separately from the BGF group at steering committee luncheons (free).  These luncheons are held off site at restaurants.  They allow an intimate opportunity to get to know other steering committee members.  Generally these luncheons are held 4-6 times a year.

HAABGF Meetings occur “as needed,” usually six to eight times a year, depending on the election season.
