Help teach thousands of Houstonians to swim by voting every day between now and October 31.
HAA Member, Sweetwater Pools has applied for a $250,000 PEPSI Refresh Grant to help teach apartment residents to learn to swim.
Sweetwater Pools, Inc., a local Houston company, submitted an application to Pepsi's Refresh Project in order to reach thousands of people in the greater Houston area with water safety education, swim lessons and job training. Voting opened for our project today, October 1st and runs through the 31st. We need your help to make a difference! Please vote every day.
You can vote through www.refresheverything.com/learntoswim, through text messaging by messaging account 73774 with the message 103402, and by installing the Facebook Pepsi Refresh Voter app and searching “learn to swim.”
We applied for and were accepted for the $250,000 category, which will allow us to have a huge impact on our community. We will:
- Give away over 3,000 life jackets
- Teach a minimum of 160 water safety presentations to apartment complexes, schools, neighborhoods and other groups – which will reach over 4,000 people
This project will allow us to positively impact more than 6,000 people during the coming year – BUT ONLY IF OUR PROPOSAL IS ONE OF THE TOP TWO VOTE-GETTERS. We will work with the American Red Cross and other local civic organizations to spread the message and teach water safety to everyone. This will help cut down on the tragically high drowning rate that affects Texas.
Drownings are preventable through education and swim lessons. We need your vote to provide this education and swim lessons. Please spread the word to your friends and family, knowing you will be saving lives with just five minutes a day.
Join HAA, the Red Cross of Greater Houston and others in supporting this project today!
