In honor of the Redbook seminars (held yesterday and next week), we're taking a look back at the original apartment owners and managers' manual - the GREENBOOK (est. 1979).

Before there was a Redbook,  HAA General Counsel Joe Bax (Hoover Cox & Shearer), researched and compiled Ordinances, rules and regulations related to apartments in the City of Houston and Harris County, State Criminal Statutes, State Civil Statutes and Evictions/Procedures How-to's.

Just as today our HAA General Counsel Howard Bookstaff (Hoover Slovacek) runs a class on how to use the Redbook, Bax used to run a program on the ins and outs of laws in the Houston area. Bax's program cost attendants only $25 and included a copy of the Greenbook (only $12.50).

These days, you can get a copy of the Redbook from Frances  by calling 713-595-0317. They cost more than the Greenbook did, but have handy tips to deal with everything from towing regulations, to sample notices, and tax code information.
