An Idea Worth Supporting

Posted by Government Affairs on Tuesday, November 15, 2011

Check out this information from NAA on a project that could save time and money for affordable housing operators...

Attention Owners and Operators of Federally-assisted Affordable Housing:
In 2009, the Obama Administration started a program called the SAVE Award (Securing Americans Value and Efficiency) giving frontline federal employees the opportunity to share their ideas about making the federal government more efficient and effective.

One of the top four 2011 finalists has an idea that could be very beneficial to owners and operators of subsidized apartment communities.  Eileen Hearty of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) proposes to reduce the number of Management and Occupancy Reviews (MORs) of multifamily properties that are privately owned and subsidized by HUD.

Because many of these properties consistently receive excellent scores on their MORs, she specifically proposes a reduction in the frequency of reviews for high-performing properties.  This would reward superior properties and reduce HUD expenses.

To vote in favor of this proposal and learn more about all of the finalists for the SAVE Award, click here.
Voting remains open until noon on Thursday, Nov. 17.

Voting is open to everyone (friends, family, etc.), so if you would like to encourage others to vote in favor of this proposal, forward this information or share the voting link.
